“It’s gonna take a lot to drag me away from you
There’s nothing that a hundred men or more could ever do
I bless the rains down in Africa
Gonna take some time to do the things we never had
Hurry boy, she’s waiting there for you…”
Wedding in Kenya
With deepest emotion, I want to tell you about Luca and Antonella’s special wedding in Southern Kenya. They called me for this sweet occasion as their Kenya wedding photographer to celebrate twenty years after their first “I do”, in the incredible scenario of the Kenyan savannah, on the beautiful Chyulu Hills.
Luca and Antonella founded and run the wonderful eco lodge Campi ya Kanzi, almost at the foothills of Kilimanjaro, a luxury paradise for safari lovers but extremely respectful of the Maasai people and their culture. The Maasai community actively collaborates in the structure.
Luca and Antonella’s love for Africa is more than 20 years old. Both moved to Kenya for Luca’s desire who, as a child, personally lived and never forgot a dream safari with his father. Antonella was at first frightened by this idea but she turned out to be a faithful companion for Luca. They not only decided to move their residence in this natural paradise but, in collaboration with several Kenyans and even with the well-known actor Edward Norton, they founded in 2000 the MWCT, Maasai Wilderness Conservation Trust, a foundation that aims to protect the Maasai tribal territory, in the triple aspects of nature, wildlife and local culture.
The magnificent eco lodge Campi ya Kanzi was the setting of this incredible wedding which saw Luca and Antonella more united thanks to the presence of their three beautiful children. The Maasai whole community considers them as their own children! Their hugs, their sweet words and their love continues to move me, as if I were still there with them.
I hope that, through my pictures, you will be able to live the powerful emotions I lived myself during this amazing experience. I wanted to show you the warm bound that bride and groom have with the local population, as if they were a great and beautiful family, their blond three children, born and raised in Africa, (with all possible difficulties but also with an undeniable human enrichment), the absolutely incredible colors of this magical land, showing us that another world is possible, where to live the moment and in the moment is a deepest part of the Maasai culture and philosophy.
Many thanks Luca and Antonella for choosing me as your Kenya wedding photographer for your rustic and intimate wedding in Campi Ya Kanzi, thanks for your example, friendship, courage, love and thanks for the availability to be remembered in my blog.
