Castle Wedding in Siena
Think about the Tuscany countryside, in the heart of Chianti, a unique landscape, soft hills, vineyards, and olive groves. Imagine a small hamlet with a castle. Feel the sensation of a warm wind that caresses you and brings you the scents of that campaign and adds to it the explosion of colors, sounds, and music of India. All of this, and more, was the Indian wedding of Helena and Vivek, a marvelous and bright American couple who chose to get married in Italy in the ancient Castle of Casole close to Casole d’Elsa in the province of Siena.
This magic, precious, and sophisticated place allowed me to create a photographic story in spacious, luxurious, and impeccable settings. The castle has been beautifully restored as well as the estate where it is located, maintaining the original structures and materials, while the interiors have been modernized and made absolutely comfortable and valuable. The pool overlooks the typical Chianti landscape from where I could admire the sunset just behind Casole d’Elsa … a unique emotion!
The location is surrounded by wonderful vineyards, from which exclusive wines are served to the guests. A relaxing and amazing landscape that, together with the castle, was the frame of my shots and the wonderful party that Helena and Vivek thought and gave to their guests.
The Hindu ceremony, which I had never seen before, took place in the amphitheater of Castello di Casole, just after the Baraat and afterward, of course, the arrival of the bride! The Baraat is a wedding procession dedicated to the groom who, on a white horse, reaches the place of the ceremony, surrounded by dancing and celebrating relatives and friends. The bride, after having curiously and excitedly looked by the window of her suite hidden behind a curtain, accompanied by her sister, reached the groom for the beginning of the ceremony.
Many rituals, gestures, and symbologies have moved friends and relatives (and myself!) like the Kanyadaan, the early moment of the ceremony, where the bride’s father gives the daughter to the groom, who promises to protect her forever.
After the ceremony, the couple and their guests could relax by the pool drinking the aperitif, admiring the wonderful sunset, and then enjoy a delicious dinner based on typical Indian dishes in the courtyard of the castle.
The party continued with dances, laughs, and so much joy until late at night!
Helena and Vivek… can we do it again?
